Avon Lake - Tennis & Pickleball Courts

Avon Lake City Schools engaged Behnke Landscape Architecture to explore options for replacing their six failing tennis courts while also creating opportunities to host larger matches, tournaments, and support the growth of the school’s pickleball club team.

Through extensive geotechnical investigation, the project budget included allowances for the removal of unsuitable soils, the installation of geogrid, and adding drainage to protect against future cracking. The resulting design expanded the facility to an eight-court layout with a central viewing spine for parents and fans, and incorporated lines for sixteen pickleball courts.

In a cooperative venture with the City of Avon Lake, two dedicated pickleball courts were added for future varsity and community use. Construction completed August, 2025.
