CLEVELAND LAKEFRONT BIKEWAY

CLEVELAND, OHIO

The 19-mile Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway stretches along the North Coast of Cleveland and through Rockefeller Park (Harrison Dillard Bikeway) linking Cleveland neighborhoods with local parks, institutions, the Lake Erie waterfront, downtown, and adjacent municipalities.

Behnke studied route alternatives and built consensus for the preferred alignment of all-purpose trails and signed, shared roadway through an extensive community involvement process.  Constraints along the route were transformed into assets, such as rehabilitating a derelict pedestrian tunnel into a safe backdrop for public art.

Construction Cost:  $2.5 Million
