Judge Jean Murrell Capers Tennis Courts

LOCATION: Rockefeller Park - Cleveland, OH

Behnke Landscape Architecture provided design and construction administration services for the complete renovation of the tennis courts at Rockefeller Park.

The original clay courts had been converted to asphalt, resulting in an unstable base that led to surface cracking despite repeated sealing and paving efforts. To ensure long-term durability, the courts and aggregate base were fully removed and replaced, with extensive drainage improvements incorporated.

In collaboration with the City of Cleveland and the Forest City Tennis Club, the project also provided amenities including a hitting wall, bleachers, signage, and benches to enhance the player and spectator experience.
