MetroHealth Medical Center Transformation Plan
LOCATION: Cleveland, OH
Behnke Landscape Architecture served as the local landscape architecture firm in collaboration with HGA on the redevelopment of the 52-acre main campus along West 25th Street.
The project included new hospital and outpatient facilities, as well as 25 acres of interconnected green space that links directly to the Metroparks Towpath Trail. These open spaces feature gardens and walking paths designed for patients, visitors, staff , and the surrounding community to enjoy.
The Campus Transformation represents a proactive effort to revitalize the West 25th Street neighborhood and establish the world’s first hospital-led EcoDistrict. Phase 1 included the construction of an 11-story, LEED-certified hospital. To date, Behnke has contributed to the master planning and Phase 1 design of the site’s landscape and irrigation systems.
