St. Luke’s Intergenerational Playscape

LOCATION: Cleveland, OH

The Intergenerational Landscape at Saint Luke’s provides a welcoming and engaging recreation opportunity for users of all ages and abilities.

The landscape accommodates users of all abilities and ages, especially school-age youth and mature adults. It is designed to be a multisensory experience that facilitates physical, social, emotional, and mental health.

User opportunities promote collaboration and creativity, active and passive recreation, natural and man-made features; and be environmentally progressive.

Through numerous stakeholder meetings and charrettes, Behnke Landscape Architecture developed a plan for the wide array of users at St. Luke’s.

While there are active recreational opportunities including play equipment, gaming tables, tunnels, and raised garden beds; there are also shady areas to rest on a bench, a native meadow to walk through and gently sloping pathways with disabilities.
